Racial Justice Subcommittee Application

Please fill out this application if you would like to apply for one of the subcommittees of the Bridgetown Church Racial Justice Committee (RJC). Each subcommittee will support a department within Bridgetown Church and will contribute to its flourishing in a way that aligns with the RJC’s mission, vision, and values. Our goal is to create a committee of individuals who is diverse in thought, background, race, and ethnicity, and are ready to engage in the Kingdom work of racial justice. Each subcommittee represents a different department at Bridgetown Church. Please select the department / subcommittee that best fits your interest.

Committments

What follows is a list of commitments we will ask every member of our Racial Justice Subcommittees to agree to. Please read through the list and answer the question that follows.

Subcommittee
• 12 month commitment
• Regular attendance, except by 24 hr advance notice (for non-emergency absences)
• Active participation in whatever initiative your Subcommittee is undertaking
• Commitment to about 2 hours of meeting time per month

Bridgetown Church
• Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Racial Justice Committee, including inclusiveness, mutual learning, embrace, faithfulness, and togetherness (see Bridgetown.Church/RJC for further explanation)
• Commitment to believe the best about Bridgetown and to work towards its flourishing as a safe, multicultural space
• Regular attendance to Bridgetown Church gatherings
• Good standing with the department represented by the subcommittee

Orthodoxy/Orthopraxy
• Commitment to live under the authority of the Scriptures and the Bridgetown Elders
• Commitment to a historic Christian position on sexuality and gender
• Commitment to abstaining from marijuana and illegal substances, and to not abusing alcohol or other substances
